C A T A L O G H O U S E_ empathic housing for transitional living |
|
Catalog House addressed the need for transitional housing for the disabled in order to reach the highest level of self-sufficiency and become a productive member of society. It focuses on the concept of empathic architecture to create an adaptive residential environment that promotes a smooth transition for war veterans as they return back to the United States after being on active duty along with making a transition economically, physically and/or mentally into a new, independent, and healthy lifestyle. It applies environmental and economical awareness through efficient construction processes, materials, site location, and design features. It focuses on maintaining a close relationship with other veteran facilities such as medical, postal, and transportation services in the site specific study.
