Crease is a Temporary Outdoor Gallery Space (TOGS) for an ideas competition in Austin, TX. The main forces driving the gallery is that it should be easily transportable on a flat bed truck; it should be simple to install; and should be treated not only as a housing for artwork, but also as artwork itself. Crease transforms itself to fit the artwork as well as the surrounding environment. This is made possible through the base connection that attaches to a pegboard structure to allows multiple configurations. The skin of the gallery is the structure and vise versa by means of a kinetic truss system. The panels are made of translucent, honeycomb core panels that allow shadows during the day and a glowing interior during the night. I worked in a team of three on the conceptualization of this project.
